Dear mission and prayer partners,
As we continue in God’s work through classical and Christian education, we ask for your prayers. We are entering a new situation in that God has provided us the opportunity to homeschool two of our grandchildren as well as take them to church. Christy Anne will continue to support other classical and Christian schools as much as possible, but our family homeschool will take precedence. We continue to teach the teacher training course evenings online through Kepler Education and Christy Anne is a contributing editor to the new Kepler Consortium academic journal.
CCEI business: -- Board Member Joel Trouse has been elected Treasurer at our 2022 spring meeting. He has an earned M.B.A. from the University of Illinois and works in finance for a large telecommunications company. Joel and his wife Abigail and son Nathan live near Orlando, Florida.
Elke Long will continue as Vice President and David Vaughan will continue serving as President. Christy Anne Vaughan will serve as Secretary.
Mission Report:
Mesquite Christian Academy
Our mission partner Dr. Greg Bliss continued to support MCA’s upper school with the Ignitia online curriculum and basic administrative training for the new head of school who came from being a postal worker to being thrust into administration at the school. We also continued the teacher training program online through Kepler Education (Christy Anne and Dr. Bliss wrote the coursework.
The two grammar school teachers from MCA successfully completed the program and we have full confidence in their ability to deliver a Christ-centered and classically oriented K-8 educational program in Mesquite, Nevada.
Peru Mission
The Yo Soy Jesus school in Lima, Peru started classes on March 1st, 2022. There are currently 180 students from K-12 that are slowly returning to full time face-to-face classes. Currently, the classes are being held via Zoom three times a week and face-to-face two times a week. More teachers are being hired in order to start full time face-to-face classes by August 2022.
The Church has also started face-to-face Sunday services and what a blessing it has been to many people! A month ago, there was a water baptism and five people got baptized.
Praise the Lord!
CCEI has blessed the Ministry in Peru by sending many suitcases with school supplies (books, notebooks, markers, etc.) to be used by the students and teachers. Also, CCEI is sponsoring Pastor Olmedo Varillas to attend a men’s conference organized by Kurt Owen Ministries from September 29th through October 1st , 2022 in Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Joel, Abigail and Nathan Trouse are going to be traveling to Peru from July 17th through August 10th, 2022 to spend time with family and friends. It is going to be Nathan’s first time in Peru and we are excited for him to meet his Peruvian family. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel!
Ongoing Mission Work
In April, CCEI helped host a community information gala for Geneva Academy in Bellefontaine, Ohio, featuring speaker Headmaster Steve Schultz from Grace Christian Academy, Long Island. We purchased ball point pens with the schools’ contact information to give out at the event. We videotaped the speakers and followed up with pro bono administration of end-of-the-year standardized testing and professional reporting to the school and parents.
CCEI Board Members Abigail and Joel Trouse coordinated Spanish language school materials for the Haiti mission school startup in Dominican Republic in partnership with Father’s House of the Children Orphans https://www.fhotco.org/ and Pierre Louis.
As Christians, we celebrate that on 6/24/2022 that the Supreme Court of our land has overturned the decision that has allowed nearly unrestricted abortion in our country. Now, those decisions go back to the states as outlined in our Constitution.
Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
Special Prayer Requests:
Grace Christian Academy in NY on Long Island is having an extremely difficult time recruiting qualified Christian teachers in the current government climate. Please pray for hearts and minds to be changed.
Trouse family Peru trip in July 2022. Please pray for safety and protection.
